- Reaction Paper #1 due today (at the end of class)
- Reading Assignment one: Iliad: Intro., Chapters 1,3,15,19,22, and 24 (Reaction paper – Sept. 20)

- Every student will be paired with another student and placed in a group of four or six (depending on the number of students present).
- Students will exchange their reaction papers with their partner and both partners will read the other's paper ( 5 minutes)
- Each student will
- write a reflective comment and a question based on the partner's paper (5 minutes)
- Use the written comments/questions to guide discussion of the papers and the issues the papers address (10 minutes)
- Each pair will then meet with their group (10 minutes) and discuss the comments, questions, and issues that emerged as they discussed their papers. (Each student will then know something of the papers of three (or five) other students.
- The class will then assemble to discuss the comments, questions, and issues that emerged during the discussions of paired students and groups.
